Please crop your photos and show much larger images of each coin, both sides, shown right-side up. These pics are of little use.

These are unfortunately coins that are heavily faked. I lack the expertise to tell you if those are real or not, but right off you should consider where you got them from and what you paid. Next up, I would get a very precise weight for each: do you have a reasonable precision scale that can do carats/grains level measures?

This site:

says that a bear on the reverse is bad news.

It also says lacking a denomination mark is bad news.
That covers both your coins :(

And it finally says that some % of the fakes or tokens are collectable, but only at $20 or so values.

These were in a batch from my father in law. I have no idea on their history. Unfortunately I don't have a scale.

Ok. You can get a scale for < $20 if you decide to pursue this or another hobby where it could be useful.
I found some more info and edited it into the post above. Its not looking too good. I understand how you feel; several coins I inherited were not real either. It happens, esp to casual collectors.

But I can't stress enough that I know next to 0 about gold coins. I lack the budget to make THAT a hobby. So I am just googling for you and guessing.

Thanks, I wasn't expecting them to be real but I wasn't sure what they were. Someone had gone through the trouble of putting them in a holder so I was curios.

Thanks for the info.

If/When you find more info on these, I hope you'll share it here with us, in case we come across similar one.

I am hesitant to call them coins because I am not sure they are. My first thought was they were play money, second thought maybe tokens of some sort? Perhaps the first step would be to see if they are real gold or not? I'd think any coin shop that buys gold could help. Please lot us know!
