Actually is is a over polished die issue. The devices are removed from the die by reducing the fields on the die. This reduces the size of the devices.

On a Struck Through Grease the opposite happens. The grease blocks out the narrow part of the devices, allowing the wider parts of the devices to show.

A new project with these. Try taking images of the location of the 'D' mintmark to see how many dies someone ruined over polishing these dies. Maybe we can figure out how many of different dies were altered? (Make sure to rotate the coin to make LIBERTY level first, then take an image. That way we can make locations of the mintmark to see how many are affected.)

No FG in 1969D 1C is rare enough to get paid. However you need to find it on MS coins. In your picture, I can see a faint FG. They are hard to find. It is considered a variety of the 1969D 1C. Happy searching.

PCGS slabbed them for a short time. Then they realized they were common polishing. I was hoping to find out how many devices were affected with these. After that time, they no lonber slab these. Don't buy them, they are common and just a die event, not a die variety.
