Was going through all my 1971 Kennedy half dollars since I finally have a microscope and went through about 20 and then came across this. I am not saying it is worth extra money but would love to know the correct terms for what it could be. Any help from all the coin experts here would be amazing. Thanks Chris

It could be a double die mark, seeing as your letters seem to be doubled

Are you referring to the mark extending out from the D? Perhaps a die gouge?

It looks like it could be remnants of a clash that had been polished off.

Yes, it is a die gouge as Coinfrog mentioned.
