Thanks for looking.

I think this is Ptolemy II - Head of Ptolemy right / BAΣIΛEΩΣ ΠTOΛEMAOY, Eagle standing left with closed wings.

Weight is approx 10.9gms and diameter approx 25mm.

Please can anyone let me know what the unit is and any further classification if known ?

Light for a tet, but I would imagine that's what it is. Ouch -rough tooling in the hair on the obverse - some of the gouges go right into the rim.

I don't believe this is a genuine example, if it is it has been tooled as Bob said and a false patina has been added.

@RD, could you please add a couple pics of the edge of the coin to this thread? The surface is a smidge porous, but I'm wondering if we can see better evidence of it being cast.

It's a "dud"
Clear evidence of casting sprue filed away
Casting in silver generally gives 10% shrinkage thus the weight problem
Flat edge indicates casting sprue
