Is this some sort of error, or was the indentation damage probably done after minting? See near the date. The only lettering I can make out is a "D". Perhaps from "in god we trust".

The fact that the second image is reversed is the first clue. The coin is also slightly out-of-round. Both of these tend to be PSD. As noted above, it's a "vise job" of two coins pressed together in an effort to make it look like an error strike.

Homework assignment: Everyone who has a bench vise, get two non-valuable wheat cents, place them in the vise, and squeeze. Try different combinations of the two coins--including well off center to determine what happens to rims. When complete, start a new thread and post photos.
