Wow I think the 83D is much more than Machine Doubling! You should definitely keep it, but I will let the more knowledgeable members have their say on that.

As for the 64D, these are still pretty common in circulation, so I guess you could spend it.

Also from what I can see, the 38D is in pretty good condition, and I would keep it if I had it.

colleen, the 1983D is severe Die Deterioration, very common on nickels due to the hardness of the metal. The 1964D is just less severe. The 1938D is Machine Doubling. Caused by die chatter or ejection problems. Only worth keeping as examples of what is not doubling or RPMs.

I agree with the Machine doubled damage folks. :-)

Rockdude...what will happen down the line is that you'll have a pile of cents to roll up and cash in. Problems that develop will be that if they were put in 2X2s that will have to be unstapled to take the coins out and roll them....Or, you'll have to look at the whole pile again just to be sure you didn't miss something that really is good:-)

25 years ago, I was there:-) and strangely enough, nothing I put back in rolls ever became worth anything. From the standpoint of pure economics, you lose money buy letting coins pile up when they have no numismatic value. Prices go up and buying power goes down.

Have Fun,
Bill
