@sl, this is a great place to learn. What I'm seeing with your coin is some circulation flattening around the rim plus a scratch on Roosevelt's temple and assorted dings. Was there something specific that caught your eye with the coin in hand?

Well there are several things going on with your coin. It is a normal die business strike coin.
1. Circulation wear is showing on the highest areas on the bust. With this wear you will note that the designs minor designs are affected.
2. Note on 'LIB', the motto and the date are showing weakness. It appears there was an issue with a partial fill on some of the devices. I ruled out a circulation wear issue because of those areas are wider in devices sizes. Which circulation wear does remove the tops of the devices. But why are the rest of the devices normal in size. So I ruled out coin wear and under stand this is an issue of a partial Grease Fill on the dies.
3. On the tops of the rest of the devices LIBERTY there is a mark on the tops of the devices. I feel this is circulation damage, probably from vending machine damage from the mecks on the machines.
Note the rim seems mostly to be the same height. So the coin is fairing pretty well doing the job it was designed to do, conduct business. (We are the ones who are picky with the coins we a looking at, even doing so with a microscope. So naturally we see issues with circulated coins.
