A variety of environmental conditions can influence a range of tonal shades, You can find copper cents in just about any colour you'd like. Definitely PMD. No mintmark means it's from the Philadelphia mint. to the CCF!

Environmental damage or maybe improperly cleaned. When copper looks pinkish it most likely was cleaned with something acidic like mayonnaise or ketchup. John1

Yes, environmental damage, which may have included attempts at cleaning and a 'brief' exposure to an acid.

to the CCF! As merclover noted, the lack of a mint mark means that a cent was minted in Philadelphia, but also keep in mind that no coins minted in 1965-1967 had mint marks. This was part of the Coinage Act of 1965 that was passed to deal with a shortage of coins in the 60's. Another exception is the 2017-P cent. It was issued to celebrate the 225th anniversary of the mint and had the P mint mark added to the coins.
ANA ID: 3203813 - CONECA ID: N-5637 Clean a coin that may be worth collecting? Please DON'T! When in doubt, leave it dirty!!

Known as the rare Vinegar Fizz . As opposed to Gin Fizz which is what a lot of people are doing these days . Just spend the penny!

Quote: No mintmark means it's from the Philadelphia mint. For most years that would be true, not for 1966 Quote: As merclover noted, the lack of a mint mark means that a cent was minted in Philadelphia, but also keep in mind that no coins minted in 1965-1967 had mint marks. Since not coins had mintmarks form 1965 to 67 you can't say the lack of a mintmark on this coin means it was made in Philadelphia. Philadelphia struck 811 million 1966 cents, but Denver struck 991 million and San Francisco struck 383 million so there is only a 40% chance that cent was struck in Philadelphia.

West point didn't strike cents until 1975. The SMS coins were struck in San Francisco.
