Looks "squeezed" from another coin, not an error.

I agree John1 that it looks like a "vise job" but some things seem off about that to me.

1. Rim structure is intact. I would think PMD would deform this area especially since these letters aren't lined up perfectly. This impression would hav to be rocked, making rim damage a certainty.

2. Not entirely sure all these devices are reversed.

Anyone have examples of LMC's with damage like this?

I would like to hear some expert opinions on what we see here.

Thanks!

I think I agree with John1, looks like contact with another coin. Not sure you'll ever know exactly what happened here, only theories.

I was asked to comment. As others have said, these incuse, mirror-image letters are contact marks. The letters are too incomplete for me to tell if they're from another cent, another denomination, or some kind of token or medal. In any event, this is not an error.

Thanks for the responses!

Even though this is PMD I am still curious about where these marks came from. I know it's a long shot but I have edited the images with a mirror effect in hopes someone in the CCF might recognize this now or in the future. It looks like maybe three words with a symbol below the words. I welcome any guesses.
