Another "not-sure" coin found in my foreign change jar. It has badly mangled/bloated/doubled text on the devices, and parts of it appear to have split serifs. However, the doubling effect is visible on both the obverse and reverse, which makes me think it can't be a doubled die. Is it just a really sloppy MD? Something else?
SamCoin, I am also looking for an answer to a similar question (it's on this forum) and information regarding mintage "errors" on Turkish coins even here in Turkey is quite limited. All I can say is, I have seen that and similar possible error coins from 2009 here in circulation relatively often until 2015, when older coins become scarce (we mint in high numbers each year) and now after 11 years, 2009 coins are becoming uncommon- though not rare- in circulation.
All I can say is that appearance in several 2009 50 Kurus coins isn't rare and still one can find a coin like that very much like that one in perhaps every hundred-two hundred 50 kurus coins. But that's limited to year 2009.
