I have been going through a lot of random coins that I have had tucked away for years. Many are old wheat pennies. I recently got a usb microscope and I am trying to fill some coin folders.
I came across a 1954s Wheat penny that the M and E are missing from AMERICA on the reverse. Due to the detail of all the surrounding letters, it does not look worn off. There are no examples of this online anywhere. Any ideas? Should I have it looked at? By who?

Looks like a grease-filled die. Not uncommon.

First, welcome to CCF. Second, there is a pretty good level of experience here at this forum. I agree with the frog that this looks consistent with a grease-filled die. Typically, more of the design elements need to be missing in order for there to be a premium over face value. For sure continue to keep it if you want as a nice example, but no reason to get it slabbed or anything like that.
