@md71, thanks to @tdz's saints thread http://goccf.com/t/367831), I'd recognize that image of St. Mark anywhere. I'm thinking your coin is from the Italian City State of Venice. That should get you started, but I can look in my Biaggi if you can't find an exact attribution.

Yes, it looks like a soldino, circa 1400. The bits of legend on left and star F right of the doge should allow identification.
I believe from 7:00 to 9:00 I see the STEN of Michaeli Steno
