i assume this is just damage but it looks a little odd so I thought i'd ask just to get a second opinion and put my mind at ease. *edited to add reverse picture. Edited by cheetopendejo 04/13/2020 05:41 am

It's broadstruck maybe 5% off-centre? People collect these, but generally those with a greater percentage off-center. Probably not much of a premium over face.

Quote: It's broadstruck maybe 5% off-centre? ah ok. I didn't even think about that but does anything look off about the "IN GOD WE TRUST" part? I figured that the "WE" and the bottom of the date had just been rubbed off or put through some machine and deformed but it seemed a little thick in general and almost sloppy. but I definitely see what you mean about off-centering.

This dime was struck off-center, and part of the result is the left lower side wasn't fully struck. It's not wear, it was mis-struck. And looking at it more, it's perhaps slightly less than 5% off-center. The higher the percentage off, the higher the value.

I guess this would be the first strike error I find even if it's not worth anything so I'm just happy I noticed because I've pretty much only paid attention to quarters and pennies thus far. hopefully this will be a little motivation to look at dimes and nickels regularly as well. i appreciate your help, much obliged.

i found this and I think there's little doubt that you're spot on about all of it.

Please, one coin per thread. If you have questions about this second coin, please start a new thread to discuss it.

Looks like a MAD not a broadstruck. When posting photos, post an full coin pic of the obverse and reverse as well as any needed close ups. John1

Thank you. Reverse looks centered,so I am going with a minor MAD. John1

Agree with John, no evidence of being off-center on the reverse. Looks like a misaligned die.

MAD in my opinion, reverse isn't affected.

Does it have a normal reeded edge? If so, definitely MAD.
