Looks kinda like damage to me? It might be though, there are lots of RPM's that look like it. http://www.varietyvista.com/02b%20L...20(1-60).htm

Unfortunately, the wear is too much to tell for sure in the pictures, but taking it to a professional is a good idea

Take to a professional? No, not needed.

Your cent has been beat down, that's all. PMD.

I disagree. This coin is not only PMD. The coin is circulated, but the RPM is still visible. This is a very nice RPM listed as CONECA/VarietyVista RPM-054, most likely stage B.
Although this coin is a very RPM, the circulated condition it is in lowers the value significantly. Nice find!

Sorry, I tossed this awhile ago. I don't think this matches RPM-054. If it was an RPM, I don't think it was worth keeping with the damage and all.

1960D-1MM-054 has more going on in the inside of the mintmark:
1960-LMC-Possible-RPM?
I'm very familiar with this image.

That coin is a later die stage (probably Stage C) than the one originally posted. Look at Stage B for RPM-054. It is the only known RPM for 1960-D that looks like the coin originally posted.

My main focus has been on completing a 1960-D RPM set BTW, so that's why most of my posts are about them.

Yeah, a pretty obvious serif is under the middle of the D. An RPM for sure
