Here's a 1859 with a well placed die clog making the "I" in REGINA look more like a one.
This die clog is not reported on the Haxby site but this coin is in a earlier die state then the state 2 shown on the site.
State two should have a die crack at leaf #6, #7 & leaf #14, this coin has no die crack at leaf &6 and only a faint die crack at leaf #14.
I realize this is minor but I thought it was cool so I decided to share.

Cheers, Bill

Does that coin have the vine break at 7 repaired? It doesn't look like a gap is there at all.

To me it looks like that "I" in regina was re-punched, I could be wrong but it looks to be up higher than the rest of the devices and somewhat crooked IMO. Interesting none the less

Hi Okie, here's a close up of the vine and there's no repair done on it.

JohnWayne007 yes the "I" is definitely re-punched and is the main marker for this Obverse Die.

Cheers, Bill

OK, I see the vine break in the magnified version. It's still a very early strike in the mintage year.... I think that the vine broke off chips of the hub at least 3-4 times until it reached its widest gap after the one on leaf 2 opened up all the way.
