So the bank that orders my coins in gave me a call the other day and the woman, who is very nice said they had some silver dollars and 50 cent coins. She said if your interested come have a look. So needless to say I bought them all 100 in dollars and 100 in 50 cents. None where silver but lots of 68, 69 and lots in the 70s for both coins. I noticed as I was doing research that there was a 1974 missing s in the 50 cent coins so I looked and I kid you not there where 11 of them. Now I'm not sure if I'm crazy or just really lucky. I have a microscope setup to my laptop and there is no s what so ever on 11 of these coins where there should be. I also had lots of 74s that had the s. Also is there any rare other coins for both denominations in those years that might not be in any book or on coins Canada web site. I will up load picks when I get a chance

to the site Wish_I_could_gr. I'm not sure how rare these 1974 50 cent with the S missing or what kind of a premium they command but I do think they are seldom found and some people look for them.

Looks like mint state 'missing s' coins are worth a bit!

Great find!

But don't quit your day job.
Price guides like that mentioned are more than optimistic.
The mean selling price on ebay is less than $25.

Very nice find, I agree with DBM though, coins and canada prices are a bit out there and far from exact. Your best bet for an idea of what it is worth is to check out ebay Sold listings and see what they are selling for.

The Coins and Canada link I provided above is for previously sold 50c's without the 's'.

There will always be astronomical outlying prices.
That is what we see on coinsandcanada.

Here's one from ebay;

Ask this seller how many he has sold for less than $25 in the last three months.

DBM - that is me.

Any I find in EF-AU, I sell mostly around the $20-$30 range. Mint state versions get more serious money. Here are a couple that sold in auctions last year, both graded MS-63.
