I found this 1956 D LWC and it is the WDMM-001. I know that Conneca has this delisted but Wexler and Coppercoins have this listed as an OMM. This is a stage A and although tough to see it in pics, in hand I can almost see the full outline of an S. On the reverse there is a die clash and below it is either another clash or what probably is a crack and both lines run in the same direction and stick out like a turd in a punch bowl. I'm going to have to check but the E in EPU and the dot next to it are a little thick. May be a DDR. Tell me what you think.

Wheats are my thing and it looks possible. To me it looks like it could be the inside of the mint mark but these guys can measure down to the micrometers and maybe the measurements didn't come out the same? Also not a DDR.

I've maintained my opinion that CONECA is incorrect and will continue to do so.

I think it's an OMM too! I don't agree with Coneca.

If my memory is correct, a dubious proposition at times, Dr. Wiles has never said it could not be a mint mark. His comment was something along the lines of it being at most a partial upside down S, not a blanket denial of it being a D and S.

I've done my own overlays of this coin and have concluded that Wiles is correct that it is a D over inverted S. Everything lines up correctly using a mintmark punch from 1955-S. It's unfortunate that he delisted it rather than listing it as D over inverted S. I (among many others) had expected the CP Guide v6 to include this coin, but apparently Wiles convinced them not to include it.
