Recently purchased this piece at an antique store in Reno. It was in a box full of various U.S. coins. I believe it is Lincoln on one side but I am not sure on the other. Looks like brass and is the exact same diameter (19 millimeters) as a Lincoln Cent, but slightly thicker. It is a high relief design and appears BU. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Not much help. It is Lincoln, it's not a coin, and I have seen them before, so not especially rare.

I believe that the other chap is James Garfield, the second President of the United States to be assassinated in office.

Thanks. Any idea how old and value? I paid a buck for it. Thought it was neat.

Death Medal from the US Mint
Is your medal gold or silver or other?
I can't tell from your pictures, but is the medal silver? If so, I have the same medal. This one commemorates the first two presidents that were assassinated. I think it was struck in 1881 by the US Mint.

Your medal is worth about $150 if silver! Real good buy for a $1!
I have seen the gold ones for 1200 -1500!
Couldn't find anything on brass. Are you sure its brass.

I also have one with Washington/Lincoln. I have not been able to locate any info on it. Here are the pics. OOPS I take it back. While searching for your medal, I found mine being auctioned in Baltimore at Bowers and Merena.....
