So, I'm not sure that I've seen one of these with such a degree of error on the square hole in the center. Has anyone else ever seen one like this?

I have a few struck cash coins, but none with this sort of error.
Probably not worth a hugely significant amount of premium over a standard struck cash, with this error, but still definitely warrants inclusion in any collection of Chinese coins.

Very interesting, and like @sel I would keep it. I doubt that the Chinese collector market is as keen on errors as the US one, but of course I can't be sure.

IIRC, this is the machine-struck type, and regularly shows up with this kind of mismatched hole.

It's somewhat common with minor rotation.

This however does not seem to be too common.

Would never happen with a cast cash; the square hole is part of the casting.

Well, part of the front casting, I believe; the back of the mold is sometimes misaligned.

Here's a slightly but visibly misaligned one I have:

I recently bought a particularly outrageous example where the back is so far off that about half of the inner square is visible, but I hadn't photographed it yet.

Not a bigger boost to its value considering how numerous these machine made ones are.
