Hello all, I'm new to this whole forum thing. I've had this [these?] coin sitting in a box in my house for years. My mother used to be a caretaker for a woman years back, and the lady gifted me this box of "rare" jewelry & coins. I've gifted & sold most of the jewelry, but still have this coin that I often look at, and think "I should post this somewhere or get this appraised" and then forget about it. So here I am, finally following through! I'm just looking for some basic knowledge about this coin. And why it seems to be 2 coins? Welded together? For protection maybe? Any and all input is appreciated! TIA! *** Edited by Staff to Add Year / Mintmark / Denomination to Title. Titles are Important! ***

Let's hope that the coin is clamped to the bezel, (and therefore removable), and not hard soldered to it.

These little bumps remind me of a hinge and clasp. Is it possible that this is a locket used to house the picture of a loved one?

Thank you guys. Here is another side view of the coin. How thick are these coins normally? This is thick, that is the reason I say [these] coins. It almost seems as if they are sitting in "trays" and soldered together. Attached is a photo of the side profile. What do you think?

A 1925 Quarter Eagle is worth quite a bit of money depending on the grade.

If the coins are heavily damaged the melt value for 2 coins is $410. If the coins are not damaged and only show a trace of being in a clasp, the value should be around $500. Did you try to open the clasp?
Below are the specs for the $2.50 Indian gold:
Gross Weight: 4.18 grams Actual Gold Weight: 3.76 grams Fineness/Composition: .900 Gold Diameter: 18.00 MM Thickness: 1.2 MM

If the bars on the side of the clasp are hinges, the coins should swivel out in the opposite directions.
