@sofia, those old Ptolemy Drachms are like copper hockey pucks, huh? Can you please add the diameter and weight for this coin to this thread while I move it over to the ancients subforum? Others there can weigh in with more details.

One of my favorite coin types. Depending on the size and weight and reverse markings it will determine which ruler it is. Here is and outstanding link that will help you figure it out: http://ptolemybronze.com/

The coin diameter is 3.5 cm and the weight is 41.5 grams. My scale might be a few grams wrong. Thank you

Do you think it might be a Ptolemy IV? Is this coin a rare one? What do you think its value might be? I found it in a box, together with other coins I got from an Auction and I was very fond of it from the beginning.

@sofia, was that your thinking after using the PtolemAE software on the website recommended by @echizento?

Looks to be Svoronos 974 Attributed to Ptolemy IV The E between legs of the eagle and the cornucopia makes it fairly easy to narrow down
Looks like a hole drilled into reverse ? The obverse and reverse "dimples" belong on these The drilled hole does not The coin is not terribly valuable Anywhere between 50 or 100 USD But the hole doesn't help that when selling Still a rather nice coin and a hole can be less obnoxious than having corrosion or scraped surfaces
