Hello I am new to this. I don't know how y'all get clear photos. I have a ton of 82 pennies. I think this is the worst condition however it is also the only possible small date? What do you think?

Thank you. I have studied the guide for identification of a small date. This one is the only one thought it could be small date. Should I clean coins?

Looks like a large date to me also. Indeed, lots of crud with wear thrown in.

Coin cleaning is a very polarizing topic within the numismatic world. Try searching the Coin Community forum (this website) for many discussions on cleaning.

Large date.

Never clean coins. Cleaning destroys value.

Hi julayne11,
I'm new to this as well, and until recently every other 1982 I found I thought might be a small date, even after studying the photos. Once I actually found a small date, the differences are more obvious IRL and you'll identify them pretty quick. Hang in there!

Small dates are common coins, the rarity is a 1982 D small date struck on a copper planchet.
