Bought it on ebay for 6$ plus shipping, it has some light pitting but it looks much better in person. liberty is readable with wear only on the corner of the "L".

Not much of a coin, but definitely OK at $6 on ebay. I would have been happy to buy it at that price. Value for money has always been my prime motivation, not necessarily a coin that says 'buy me' in a much better condition, and thus a much higher price.

I think you could have found a coin with less problems for not much more $

I would have waited, saved a bit more money and bought a problem-free coin.
One of my rules: If you buy a coin with a problem, you'll always have a coin with a problem.

I'd agree with others. Certainly, you can't get "hurt" at $6, however a problem free low grade example could have been located for a small bit more. Rule of thumb. Stay away from corroded, bent, whizzed, cleaned, environmental damaged details/"genuine" labeled slab coins if purchasing them as an investment or if ever planning to sell down the road. You will get absolutely slaughtered in value. I posted one such return that I made on a $2,000 Book coin won for $300+ with some corrosion. Ultimately, I didn't accept it.
If your budget is smaller, take F2, AG3, non problem, original graded coins over nicer ones with listed problems.

I am of a different view. I have no problems buying a "problem" coin if the problem isn't major. I have seen many a coin with barely an issue get details grades. They are less than the same coin in the same grade and dont look bad. Provided you purchase well, you wont lose money in the future IF you purchase wisely. Cherry pick them.
To your question, no, 6 bucks was not a bad price on that.

Thank you all for welcoming me! I'm not really collecting as a investment, so value is not of worry to me, I just wanted a large cent that I would be comfortable with sticking in my wallet and letting it be handled, and I think this will work nicely.

to the CCF. Your motivations are appropriate for this damaged coin and the price you paid. Quote: I just wanted a large cent that I would be comfortable with sticking in my wallet and letting it be handled, and I think this will work nicely.

Nice coin. Keep it in your pocket for a conversation piece.

This piece might look better and better the more you handle it. It will be fun to pull it from your pocket to show to people. $6 is reasonable for this pocket piece, so enjoy!
