" It has tarnished around the edges"
DON'T clean it any more (naturally you cleaned the dirt off of it.)

Nice coin, can I go out with you guys?
(I'm on Long Island.)

Anyway, looks like it could go XF.

"1877 Indian Head penny"

Wow...I'm impressed!
The surface on the 1865-S is amazingly good for a buried coin.

No offense but I'm finding it harder and harder to believe these stories. One location that has yielded THREE key coins? Possible I guess but it must be one heck of a site.

Condor:
I agree with your assessment.
However, it has happened before, and could happen again.

You just need the right location.

[like real estate, location, location, location. But, it is hard to believe.]

if it seems like we are "storytelling", we will continue to enjoy any coins, without posting any more updates, and avoid you having to wonder if it is true or not by not posting any more photos
I simply found your story amazing, and I'm happy for your find. Amazing as it is, I have no grounds to cast your finds in any doubt, and I simply hope you'll continue posting here.

These finds do seem to suggest that what has been discovered is a lost coin collection. The odds of random coins having such a high percentage of key dates is pretty remote.

I still think that if a coin collector hid/lost his collection, or his house burned down (maybe 100 years ago), these kinds of metal detecting finds could be the result; but not from random change dropped by accident.

I guess we'll never know.

Weird string of posting here. Wish I could have seen these coins and posts. But I see they are All-gone! Couldn't resist that.

Do you think that 100 years ago, someone realized that those particular coins would be collectable? I think not. Again, the "spot" is a square mile debris field, not someone's yard.
