I was wondering if people have used Lindners to wash their silver coins. What luck did you have? Is this considered acceptable cleaning to collectors ? Thanks !
To be honest , I never heard of it . Is it a cleaner or silver dip ? Cleaning any coins except ancients are frowned upon in the hobby . A dip or two is accepted but only on an uncirculated silver coin .
I've never heard of it either. I have never once cleaned a silver coin. I've washed a few Lincolns in soap, but that was because they were common date, and burnt like coal.
It's a coin cleaner that is commercially available. I think it is similar to a dip. I figured it would probably not be OK with most collectors but thought I'd check with all you. It is gentler than acetone on the skin - it's a soapy substance. Thanks for your responses !!
Jewelry dips remove the outer surface of the coin. It may look shiny at first, then later on you realized you've removed the mint surface. (Also leaves light hair like coin scratches on the surface of the coin) Best to leave the natural finish.
