*** Edited by Staff to Add Year / Mintmark / Denomination to Title. Titles are Important! ***Decided to make a ebay purchase, got it from a "random pull" auction. From what I see on PCGS facts I'm surprised they didn't just try to sell it separately. I know the pictures are not the best, but everything checks out with Cert check. My question being, does it seem like the holder has been opened/ how would I know if it has been. Edges seem clean on holder. But I guess I'm questioning it because the value seems high for someone to throw it into a random pull ebay auction and I've never had a certified coin until now. Other then that it does look beautiful. Thanks for thoughts on it. *wasnt sure if this should be in discussion or error sub forum*

Not too sure. Maybe salting his sales or a very honest seller. Probably has some inside pricing on grading lots of coins at a time.

A tampered with holder is usually evident at a glance. Are the obverse fields hazy as in the image or is that the holder fogging the image? The coin tells a story.
If it looks absolutely perfect you can be pretty confident there are no problems with the slab. How much did you pay for it?

Bh1964, I'd say it's a combination of the case and glare ithe coin puts off making it appear cloudy like that. In person the coin appears perfect but the case does not help, I imagine due to moving around from different collections.

Like I said though, I'm new to graded coins and wanted to be sure that the case wasn't tampered and how I would know if it was. Only way I know is to see if edges are glued or something to put it back together

Thanks it is very nice to look at (case could be less micro scratched though), and I'm glad I picked it up for $20+tax!

Quote: ...I'm glad I picked it up for $20+tax! Fantastic! I've got a product in my Amazon shopping cart for restoring scratched plastic that gets incredible (almost unbelievable) reviews. Novus 7100 Plastic Polish kit. It was recommended to me by a member here. Might try that for your slab. It's in my Amazon cart because I have a couple slabs that need to be un-scratched too.

Nothing jumps out at me as being a problem with the coin. Looks like a good deal. Sold prices on ebay have been mostly running in the $80 to $100 range.
