Just above Abe's temple is a raised line. I assume it is not a die crack because it doesn't run to the edge, so I am guessing it is a die gouge. What say ye, experts? Educate me, please!

It could be a die crack or possibly planchet flaking.
What year is the coin?

Thanks. Can you tell me what you see that tells you it is a die crack?

Just a die crack. Not a gouge.

Die cracks are just that - like cracks in pavement, dies crack in jagged lines. They look like little raised lightning bolts going across the coin.

A die gouge would be a tool or something scraped across or hit the die and made a dent or scratch in the die that transfers to the coins as a sharp raised area, usually with straight, distinct edges.
