These two "blobs" look like Cuds? I put in pics of 'normal' quarter for comparison. Your thoughts, please.

Those are die chips. Part of the die broke off. A Cud would include the outside of the edge of a die in the purists description. A die chip is very common while a rim Cud is worth a premium according to how large it is.

Not Cuds, as Cuds are only found at the edge of a coin. A Cud must affect the face and shank of a die, anything else is just a die chip/break. Those are die chips and I have seen several of these in relation to the Arizona quarters, the complexity of the desert plant design has caused some inherent weak spots in the die. Definitely keepers though, especially when it intrudes on the date. Not really any extra value as I would bet that hundreds of thousands exist out of hundreds of millions minted. Unfortunately, a number of sellers on ebay try to convince people otherwise

Of course keep it.
Interesting find.
Not particularly valuable, but neat anyway.

Out of 33 rolls, I've found 4 rolls with the designer's initials partially covered. I haven't found one with the date covered, but I still have 7 unopened rolls. I'm wondering if most of them went to the Cleveland Branch, since that's were our (Cincinnati) money comes out of. Even so, I'm sure there are thousands of them.

What you are describing sounds like they may have been struck with a greased die.
But, pictures would help to determine.

I think what he is talking about are the "extra cactus" die chips.

Condor has it right. They are die chips, not grease or foreign matter on the die, the same as on the photos, only I don't have any with the date obscured. I'm not set up yet for pics. I know it would help. Soon I hope.
Thanks

Mfhorn: I live just south of Cleveland, so it's probable that mine came from there as well.
