I'll call it the 1955-D apostrophe S

Eh...you're looking much too hard. What you're seeing is just a pattern of wear and PMD.

Not an error, not an extra MM.

You are the king of "Nothing There."

It's just not there. Walk away slowly. There's nothing there...

Could be grease from the die, mixed with some good ol' Pareidolia, doesn't look like dirt but dirt would be my next guess, either way the 'font' doesn't match any of the other 'S's on the coin so it couldn't be a misplaced mintmark, or a dropped letter unfortunately, so it's likely not a major variety discovery or anything of that sort.

Keep in mind die flow lines. These can make even a die scratch appear to be something. This has happened before.

Note what appears to be an 'S' mintmark? For a time these were thought to be an over mintmark. But finding an earlier die state example, debunked this listing. So die flow can make some thing appear that really was never on the die before the die flow happened. As yourself, "Even the worst Monday would never place a mintmark in that location." Note the strength is nowhere near that of the digits? So the eyes are playing tricks on you.

Deep breath. Step slowly away from the coins. You're in too deep. This is like the coin collecting equivalent of Charlie's conspiracy board in Always Sunny.
