No, just severe environmental damage, probably once buried. With respect, if you think this is improperly annealed, then you have a great deal of learning ahead of you.

stay away from you tube video's, there is way too much disinformation in there. and all the clown's selling the same coins on ebay.

This coating in circulation will darken and the tops of the devices will show the normal color, just like your coin. On the BB they color is in the planchet and doesn't wear off. Burned metal.
