First note. This is a 3 cent. This was issued for a limited amount of time as the Trime and 3 cent nickel came out right around the same time. This was the lowest denomination fractional note ever issued in the US.

Next Note, the 1899 Silver Certificate, the black eagle. Currently one of my favorite large notes.

No question one of the best-designed large size US notes.

Next I picked up a $1 obsolete note from the State Bank of NJ at New Brunswick. What I like about the state bank notes are that they are dual printed. Most banks only printed one side. This one is in pretty nice condition since its 160 years old.

Very nice. I like the shield on the reverse of that note and the spiral ONE effect.

Another fractional, this one is FR 1376 which is from the 4th issue. The person on the note is Edwin McMasters Stanton (December 19, 1814 - December 24, 1869) who was an American lawyer and politician and served as Secretary of War under the Lincoln Administration during most of the American Civil War. Stanton's management helped organize the massive military resources of the North and guide the Union to victory. He also organized the manhunt for Abraham Lincoln's assassin, John Wilkes Booth. After Lincoln's assassination, Stanton remained as the Secretary of War under the new U.S. President Andrew Johnson during the first years of Reconstruction. He opposed the lenient policies of Johnson towards the former Confederate States. Johnson's attempt to dismiss Stanton ultimately led to Johnson being impeached by the Radical Republicans in the House of Representatives. Stanton returned to law after retiring as Secretary of War, and in 1869 was nominated as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court by Johnson's successor, Ulysses S. Grant; however, he died four days after his nomination was confirmed by the Senate. I got this note at a really low price because of the minor stain on the obverse. Otherwise the note is really nice and was much nicer than notes 3x more costly. I believe I did well in picking this one up.
