My local coin shop calls me when they get new currency in, sometimes its great other times its MEH. Last week, it wasn't either, but I'm a sucker for low priced slabbed notes.

Before I post what I got in the mail, I was at the LCS and they had a small pile of uncut notes. I reached to Steve in Tampa for some feedback. I ended up getting one, they have a few more so I may get another. Thanks Steve for the advice.

As el capitan de cafe "bullied" me several times that I didn't have any star red seals, I had to change that. I completely ran out of top loaders so this picture is naked. The top loaders have a blue tint so all my notes have a slight tint, this one is pure color. I have a lot of the regular sleeves so its one of those now, I expect the top loaders by Monday, so all the notes will go back. I like having them all the same.

I really like the Federal Reserve Bank Notes. They aren't actively collected so you can generally get them for a low price compared to other early small sized notes. Recently the below popped up.

You make it sound like I hold a lot of influence. I don't even have a $2 star note! Glad to see you managed to find the time and money to keep on with the banknotes as you work on your IHCs and NGC type set.

@captaincoffee, Sadly I have 4 more posts and then I have to go back to the NGC registry. The extra income from selling astrophotos isn't stable, but when I can a sell a few I do. I took a picture a few days ago but it doesn't have the appeal the nebulas have, so I don't think it will sell I do appreciate the bullying though, although Steve in Tampa is worse than you

One of the workers at the coin shop I usually go to used to own the store. A few years ago he sold off the store and a limited amount of inventory and moved down to South Carolina. After a few weeks of not doing anything and the current owner having issues with fake merchandise he came back as a manager. Over the last year he decided to sell off some of his inventory, I've been the lucky recipient of some of the sales as I get called whenever he decides to sell some items. its a win/win, I pay below retail and he gets cash. Well he called me on Monday asking if I was interested in the below. The price was excellent, I couldn't say no. Today's notes are the S and R Experimental Silver Certificates. In 1944 the Bureau of Engraving and Printing decided to experiment with a new paper for silver certificates. Some 1935A silver certificates were marked with a red R to designate the regular paper; others were marked with a red S to signify that they were printed on special paper. All told 1,184,000 of each type of note was printed. No conclusive results were reached and today we have nice collectible item thanks to the attempts. It is important to know the serial number ranges for these types of notes. Some less than scrupulous people have been known to just stamp an R or S on any 1935A $1 silver certificate. If your experimental note is not in the following range, then it is forged: Red S - S73884001C - S75068000C Red R - S70884001C - S72068000C
