I experimented with buying the 100 quarter mint bags and rolls of the ATB Quarters this spring. Am I doing this right? I went through all the coins with a good hand lens. I pulled about 8 from each bag which might could go for grading, ones I didn't see a single scratch, ding, or buff. Then I pulled an additional 40 which had only one or two light scratches but still very attractive. Are the remaining coins typically OK for selling as uncirculated, or should I just throw them into circulation? I was surprised to see one or two coins in the bags that look like they spent time on the floor getting ground underfoot into the pavement.

Cool. Will do.

The second part of my question was, what to do with the remaining 100 or so coins which are uncirculated but have "dings" and scratches? Spend them now that I've selected the best?

Couple options.
1. Spend them you are done with them.
2. Pick out the next nicest from what you don't want and sell them on ebay, they all still qualify as BU uncirculated, but it wont be very profitable after fees, maybe if you do it as a set?
or trade them locally for others in nice condition at a coin club or something.

Use them to shim wobbly tables, take me to a carnival and try to win a goldfish, run them through a vending machine and try to refund and see if you get different quarters back.

Lots of options really.
Up to you, you got what you wanted out of the purchase so there's your value.
They are still worth 25 cents each for the ones you don't want and that all goes back to your bank account.
