2019-DDR-Quarter.-Trying-To-Figure-Out-If-I-Should-Send-It-For-Grading?

One person told me this could be doubling? Should I send it to be graded?

That is very interesting. Not sure. Haven't seen one quite like this before. Wait for other opinions here first.

Looks genuine, but I'm no expert.

EDIT: Once again, proven wrong.

It is a normal coin with Machine Doubling on it. It is not a DDR. The devices are incuse and the the rules are different for incuse VS raised devices. They are just opposite of each other. So far there are no DDR on these devices that are incuse on the outer rings of the ATB Quarters.

Read these threads:

This is where to look for the DDRs on the Quarters on the States and ATB Quarters:

Not on this area. As all you will find there 70% of the time is Machine Doubling on these incuse devices.

Machine doubling. Incuse devices will be reduced, not enlarged by doubling in the hubbing process because the doubling removes raised areas from the die.

I'm not an expert either but there are experts on here so just wait for someone else to chime in.

In my opinion it's Machine Doubling and not an actual double die, but again not a professional. The entire reverse would be useful to see if it's present anywhere else since the date is part of the whole design and not added later to the die.

I too was thinking Machine Doubling. In my opinion. not worth sending it in to be graded, as the cost to grade would out weigh any value it would have just because it's in a plastic slab. I'd keep it as an interesting example of Machine Doubling, but having it graded? My answer would be no.

to the CCF!

I agree this is Machine Doubling. This is very common on the ATB Quarters.

John Wexler has pictures of a similar coin on his page about Machine Doubling: http://www.doubleddie.com/144822.html
