Given the photo posted, I'm seeing a normal, worn 1917 Wheat cent. Not seeing DDO. I do notice that the second 1 in 1917 has taken a hit--moved/flattened metal. Copper is a relatively soft metal, prone to being 'reshaped' when hit/struck). Post mint damage.
I understand that the surface immediately following the date appears to mimic a Y/8/X. IMO that's only what the eye is trying to decipher out of subtle wear and coloration. Closer, higher-resolution photos may tell more of a story.
