Greetings all. Need some input on this Silver Eagle I have had for some time. Don't know why I am asking as I got this on ebay, and all coins on ebay are authentic . Just kidding. I NEVER buy a slabbed coin from anywhere unless I verify Certification Number on the respective TPG site. I don't know why, or if I did, miss this one. Don't remember as its been a while, but that is almost a reflective action to check Cert prior to buying. Go figure. Anyway, in addition to the pictures provided, here are the facts: 1. The Certification Number, 7004130055, when input to ANACS verify site, says invalid Cert Number. 2. Looking at the Silver Eagle itself, it looks authentic to me. 3. I have another ANACS proof eagle (Cert valid), and it weighs 58 grams in slab. This one in question weighs (drum roll please)?... 58 grams. Exact same weight. 4. Using a rare earth very powerful magnet...same slight push away that silver produces. 5. I looked for similar year and Slab designs by ANACS on ebay, found a couple, and one Cert Number showed same Invalid message. One showed valid. Seems the shorter numbers are invalid, at least for this year/type slab. So....looking at pictures, and what I have noted, what do you folks think? Looks very authentic to me, save the rejected Cert Number. Was there a certain year/type/etc. that never got input to ANACS (internal problem)? I will contact ANACS and provide them with the necessary info to see their take. But for now I am asking here. Again...that is one heck of a counterfeit if that's what it is, including the coin. And why all the effort for a relatively low value coin, and use a real Silver Proof (if it is real)? Here are the pictures:

I would email them with pictures you provide here with your concerns at CustomerService@ANACS.com
I looked and entered 7004130055 under verify single coin and also saw The certification number you entered is not valid.

I believe that ANACS will confirm the slab as valid and let you know that the reason it was not coming up in their on-line verification system was because the coin was part of a special promotional submission (e.g., by one of the home shopping shows on TV) and that those numbers, with their special prefixes, are not currently in their system. A quick call should be all that is needed.

TNG, Commems...thx for taking the time to assist. Yes...contacting them is on the list. And my exact thought was there must have been some scenario where these particular coins were omitted, and the promotional type comment makes total sense. I just don't have enough experience to know the history of all thing grading. But, everything other than serial number looks in order so what you folks say is good news. Thanks for the quick response. I will leave a comment once I get the result from ANACS.

Looks like a Mike Mezack/HSN coin. The trademarked "1st Release" belongs to him.

Got it nfine. That narrows it down even more. I emailed ANACS and provided all the information and pictures. I am sure as other commenters noted, it will be cleared up soon. Thx for the info.

This coin is unquestionably authentic and it is an authentic ANACS holder.

I agree with all the other comments here, it looks authentic. There's always clerical issues with coins graded a while ago, before it was easy to take a pic of the holder and host it in a server or entering the cert number into their database. In fact I recently bought a Mezack/HSN coin on ebay and looked the up the cert number immediately (as I do with all slab purchases, just like you), and the label came back correct but just no online photo of it. It was a special label that I think only he uses. So you should be fine. The magnet and weight tests undoubtedly prove it's genuine.

OK....ANACS responded to my request for validation. Short story is, they checked the subject Cert number against their "internal records" agreed it is an authentic Slab and Silver Eagle. They apologized for a recent update to their Server system and it omitted "certain patterns of serial numbers not uploading to our database".
However, they did not say they would now enter it. They said if I would like, I can resubmit it at no charge to have it re-slabbed, and entered newly into their system. They said to compensate for the shipping, they are offering two free raw slabbed submissions at no charge to offset the shipping to do all this.
So there ya have it. The good news it I at least have official correspondence verifying its authenticity. I will look into taking them up on their offer.
Thanks for the great input across the board here. Was not an earth shattering issue. Lol. But curiosity got an answer to the question I am sure some ANACS coin owners have, if having the same issue. Spread the word. They neve mentioned Mike Mezack/HSN as a source or a reason for the issue, other than their own Server problems. Ok Thanks again.

Nothing against ANACS as the only coins I have ever submitted were to them and I am happy with the results (although I wish my VG coins would have come back MS70's ) but it sounds like they are trying to distance themselves from that HSN scandal and get those slabs out of circulation by reslabbing them.

Celtic...I could not agree more. Though only a member for a short time (Pebble of the Community), compared to the many hard charger Bedrocks here with many years of experience, this is my go to place for all things coin. It is great to be able to get insight before a decision coin wise, or just for what I already possess, as was the case for this coin. Made the resolution very quick, and basically answered my questions before ANACS replied. In fact, as one can see in this comment chain, the details were far more than I got from ANACS, though getting the "company answer" is fine. They gave me what I needed to fix the problem. Albeit, I would have rather they just entered the number and be done with it. But two free raw coin submissions is not a bad deal. Plus a re-slab. Anyway, once again....thanks to all. Onward!.....
