Hello all! This is my first post as I am very new to coin collecting. I recently had the good fortune to acquire a box of half dollar rolls and look through them, I found some silver coins, even a couple of Ben Franklin Proof ones, but I also found this Half Dollar with two dents. The one over the mint mark area goes all the way through and can be seen on the reverse but the one on the bust I can't see on the reverse. Does anyone know if this is a minting error or just post mint damage?

It is an intentional damage.

Looks like something I did with my BB Gun when I was a kid.

Thanks everyone for the information! What is it that gives away it is intentional damage and not original to the coin when it was made?

How can we tell? Experience. Experience looking at many, many coins over many, many years--and researching what we come across if we need to. Personally, I've come across several hundred coins (cents, nickels, dimes, quarters, halves, and dollars) which have had a variety of very similar 'pock marks'.

My first thought was damage from a BB gun.
