Think a bit on this subject.
Machine Doubling can alter normal die coins and machine doubled coins. But note the images above shows that even on doubled dies, the affected areas are always reduced in size. A doubled die shows an enlarging of the devices. Also note, the areas you are looking at that shows
Machine Doubling is always on the edges of the devices. On a doubled die the die creates the coins with a widened size of the devices. The spread is on the centers of the devices,
not on the edges. So stop looking there. Look at the centers of the devices. Seeing coins side by side show this a lot easier on the eyes to see.

DDO: (Easiest one to spot:

Now let me ask you? Are you looking at the edges of the devices? You are seeing the doubling by looking at the centers of the devices.

Another strong one. But don't just look at the date. Note the Liberty and the Motto how it is affected.

Now where does your eyes go on this coin. Your not looking at the edges of the devices, your looking at the centers of the devices.
Ok, lets look at some normal and
DDO's. Tell me where your eyes are focused?

Do you find your eyes looking at the edges of the devices, or on the centers of the devices?
On this one, see if you can see enlargement of the devices?

Are you eyes pulled to the edge of the devices, or on the centers of the devices. Se when you are not seeing a doubled die, then you start looking to find something on the coin. But all you will find is
Machine Doubling on the outside edges of the devices. Think about this; On these images did I have to find the doubled die? No, the jump out at you Now you are looking at spread on the devices. Now go back and check your images to see if you see spread there, enlarging of the devices or ... reduction of the devices. Hope this helps.
