Has anyone seen the color like the one that is coin represents or have any ideas what or why it is that color? I know copper comes in many different colors in some never are there two alike but this one just seems very different....

@skippy, yes for sure this does look a little weird. It looks to me like it was copper plated after leaving the mint and now this extra layer of copper is starting to wear away on the high points of the coin.

Just exposure to some unknown environmental conditions. We'll never know.

That is the color copper turns when vinegar is used on a copper cent. It turns pink.

It looks like it was dipped in Heinz Ketchup. That can leave a strange rose color on copper coins.
