Very rough condition, and will have to get the goop off, but only paid face value.

Well done!

Acetone may remove those foreign substances from the reverse.

Incredible find! Congratulations! Soaking it in 100% pure Acetone (not nail polish remover, just the regular stuff) might remove all of the gunk on it. It's 100% safe to do. It will not harm your coin.

I found a 1909 Philadelphia VDB Lincoln Wheat cent in a coin wrapped roll last year for face value. Came from a box of pennies from the bank. http://goccf.com/t/354136

When they changed the Cent from wheat to memorial, a lot of regular people hoarded them thinking they would be valuable some day... Now a days I think a lot of people are inheriting bags of cents from their grandparents and all they see are a bunch of old brown pennies, so they take them to the bank and dump them...

Mtuma3, probably. I am finding so much more Wheat Cents as of lately. I remember like two or 3 weeks ago, I finished a box and ended up finding 24 Wheats from the box.

That's exceptionally cool! A friend of mine got an IHC in change at a restaurant and he was like "oh this is a funny looking penny". Talked him into letting me have it, and let him know he just experienced a one in 10 million event. He's religious too and was always trying to talk me into becoming more so. Almost enough to make me a true believer!

@Keith12 - Ref the MM, I've been around long enough that nothing surprises me.

@T-Bop - Yes it does, and not a good attempt

@Fenton - Also nice change
