Looks similar to zinc rot but this is a copper coin. I'm sure there is an easy explanation so please enlighten me. Reverse has it too. I can't say what to attribute it to, rusty dies or whatever, but I see it all the time. Makes seeing the good stuff harder but never have found a doubled die on a coin showing this. I think it's a fun error though not valuable. The fact that it looks like environmental PMD but is not is intriguing. I got this pict off an ebay listing.
