Hello, first post here.

So I think I may finally have a legit error.

1988-D-Roosevelt--Dime-RPM001?
1988-D-Roosevelt--Dime-RPM001?

It looks to me like a D/D RPM, but I'm not sure.
1988-D-Roosevelt--Dime-RPM001?

I *think* the die-crack through the hair (the only marker noted on variety vista) is there, buried underneath all the PMD (or maybe "feeder errors"? Not too familiar with those yet).
1988-D-Roosevelt--Dime-RPM001?

The main thing that has me second-guessing (aside from my noob status) is the fact that the reverse looks to be EDS or MDS, not LDS, which would put this dime at Stage A.

Here's the VV entry for Roosevelt 1988-D RPM001: http://www.varietyvista.com/07%20Ro...8DRPM001.htm

Anyone care to confirm/debunk or comment on my theory? Hope so!

Thanks!

-Matt

to the forum!

Unfortunately, this is not a RPM. Your coin looks to have Die Deterioration Doubling on the mintmark. The heavy die flow and similar doubling affecting the bust are indicators of DDD.

Mintmark position is also not a match. On RPM-001, the left side of the mintmark is positioned slightly left of the last 8. On your coin, the left side of the mintmark is directly over the left side of the last 8.

Also, because of the heavy die flow and Die Deterioration Doubling, the obverse of your coin would be LDS. Die Deterioration and die flow is caused by excessive use and wear of the die, so this one was struck later in the die's life.

to CCF. Not a RPM,sorry. Just a FYI: a RPM is not an error, it is a variety.

Mintmarks used to be punched in by hand into the dies until 1990 (1989 was the last year they did it by hand). So after 1990, RPM's are impossible to happen.
