Heh... "thots".
The piece is a Mexico City mint... 1630s-early 1650s by the style. This "cob" style coin is either an 8 Reales or a 4 Reales - from the look of the shield, I *think* 8, but size/weight would confirm.
Note that authenticity always has to be scrutinized for Spanish Colonial pieces like this, as there are a LOT of replicas and fakes. From a distance, this piece looks like a genuine, shipwreck-salvaged example. Being Mexico of that time frame, decent chance it came from the Concepcion shipwreck. However, that's just an educated guess - no way to prove that.
