Back to my question: How many different coins are shown on your thread. The reason I ask is that if there is only one, then it maybe struck though thin cardboard, preventing parts of the strike. If more than one, then it maybe a die issue. Let us know which and if there are more than one, check to see if the same exact areas are affected.

He is definitely showing two coins. One to show the error or whatever it is, and one to show what it is supposed to look like. (At least that is what I am assuming.) As to what is going on I can't be sure. Could be a strikethrough or it could be damage I can't tell which.

Not damage for sure. Two coins one with error one normal

Were the rest of the coins in the mint bag the same? If so, then it is a struck through something like cardboard, (like a business card) that was soaked with grease and grime. What makes me think that? The devices on the outer rim are incuse, so the die could not be filled with grease as they are raised on the die. The other devices are showing some grease in them and the only way the raised devices would be altered during a strike is if they were covered over by something. Thus my determination as to what happened on this coin. The struck through left the chamber with the coin and thus only one coinin the bag was affected like that.

No. if it is a Grease Filled Die, those seldom bring much if any premium and you almost certainly wouldn't recover your grading costs.
