No sorry as the mintmarks were applied to the die by hand, their location varies a little bit. If the mintmark is actually contacting another design element, there may be a preium.

Mintmark location does vary from die-to-die because they were hand punched into the die, as pointed out before. However, this specific one, the 1975-D 5c with the mintmark nearly touching the 5 is an extreme example. This is probably the most notable and talked about non-corrected, misplaced mintmarks on US coins and would be worth a premium over face value, though the interest in this variety is fairly small. This variety is also pictured in The Official Red Book! Nice find! |
