Just from what I can see, looks like a vise job. I can see the RIC in America and it's backwards. Damage IMO.

Looks more like a mirrored STATES.

It does look like a partial "STATES"

My Educated guess is that another penny in a roll, jar, box... was pressing on the obverse and left a mark. Can you tell if the letters are indents or is it smooth like maybe the obverse tarnished with age except the portion where the other coin was in contact, tight contact?

hello I apologize I'm new to coin collecting the Lincoln Cent is punched in on the back side which has letters on the face of the coin

Can you take pictures of different angles? Maybe a shot with no flash? It is really hard to get a feel for the coin with just one head on shot. taking a pic while the head is at 12:00, 3:00, 6:00 AND 9:00.
