jpgrajek Valued Member United States 136 Posts	Posted 05/31/2020 10:08 pm It does look like a partial "STATES" My Educated guess is that another penny in a roll, jar, box... was pressing on the obverse and left a mark. Can you tell if the letters are indents or is it smooth like maybe the obverse tarnished with age except the portion where the other coin was in contact, tight contact? Report this Post to the Staff

It is really hard to get a feel for the coin with just one head on shot. taking a pic while the head is at 12:00, 3:00, 6:00 AND 9:00. Report this Post to the Staff
