My son found this in his pocket change. The ear looks pretty suspicious to me. Experts?

Is it reduced in size or is it enlarged in size? To me, it looks reduced in size, so I think it's Machine Doubling.

If it is Machine Doubling, check the other devices on the same directional corner that the earlobe was affected. You should see MD on other devices. (unless it was a high bounce and flew over the other devices.) Imagine a straight line direction on the other devices. That would be where to look.

It's hard to tell with the lighting but it looks like possibly very minor DD on the devices. It looks like split serifs on the letters and the O looks fatter in the direction of the spread. The ear looks MD though. Cant say for sure.

I worked a bit with the motto images. But I'm thinking there was a high bounce that just affected the top on some of the devices and not the outer devices.

But the angles of light from different directions on the devices, didn't let me invert the images to show the Machine Doubling. It looks like you used a single light, but the light was reflecting on some devices on both sides. (If you took some of the images horizontal and some upside down that would make sense of what I see on the images) Two sets of the motto were divided into groups of three. and when I put them together the light was shining on both sides of the devices. But I think I got it figured out.
