Probably took a spin in the dryer. It's a Dryer Coin by the looks of it. It's been damaged after it left the U.S Mint. PSD (Post Strike Damage).

It looks a lot like a Dryer Coin. It's been worn down by a machine most likely. Just PSD.

The silvery color is the zinc under the copper plating.

The plating was rubbed off the coin. Now its zinc is showing:
