Hi! I'm new here and this will be my first post. I was wondering what is up with this penny I found...? Is it just wear and tear or something else? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

@ljr, first welcome to CCF. Second, on first inspection, I'm only seeing normal circulation flattening and wear. Is there something specific that you see with the coin in hand?

To CCF! What you have here is severe Die Deterioration. It's caused by a worn die issue, from striking a ton of planchets at the U.S Mint. No added premium, but a keeper, since it's so severe. http://goccf.com/t/322204&whichpage=2#2746987

Thanks, everyone. Spence, I was noticing how the lettering, especially "IN GOD WE TRUST", is fatter and not as defined as I usually see. Thank you, E&V- love the name, btw.

You're welcome and thank you!

I picked that name out because I love collecting both, minor and major.

Please show larger pics of both sides, right-side up. Impossible to evaluate in this small sideways shot.
