1985 D LMC Please Need Help With Mint Mark

Hi All, I started back on my coins the other day. Grabbed a handful of penny's and ran across this 1985 D LMC while sorting through them. I am not sure what is going on with this mint mark & was hoping someone could help me. I can't find any information about it looking on error & mint mark sites. Maybe not looking for the right wording. Anyway I sure would appreciate any help I could get. Pics are not the best my apologies.

Zinc rot. The copper plating in that area split during the minting process exposing the zinc below.

Split plating and zinc rot it is.
